Expanded Analysis
1
Giants (trade up to one)
Eli Manning
QB
6'4"
210
Miss
I'm going against my rule and I'm adding a trade into the mix. The Giants WILL trade for the number one spot and pick their future franchise QB.
A franchise player with great athletic ability, a good arm with excellent pocket presence. Has a quick release of the ball and good leadership ability.
2
Oakland
Ben Roethisberger
QB
6'5"
240
Mia(OH)
Oakland will surprise people with this pick. Big guy with a big gun and lots of upside potential. Some like him as much as Manning. I like him more. Had an impressive Combine that had scouts buzzing about him. He will turn out better than Manning just like McNabb turned out better than Couch.
3
Arizona
Larry Fitzgerald
WR
6'2"
212
Pitt
Has the size and skill to be a top flight WR in the NFL. Great athletic skills with playmaker ability. Runs crisp routes and never drops the ball. He’s too tough and big to jam at the line of scrimmage and quick enough to get by Corners. Fabulous talent. In the mold of a Terrell Owens.
4
San Diego
Robert Gallery
OT
6-6
322
Iowa
Without question the best OT in the 2004 draft. At 6’6” and 322 lbs, he is monster pass blocker. He is what an OT is supposed to look like. Is aggressive and athletic. A great pick to fill an OT need. Will protect the QB’s blind side for the next 10 years. Can contribute right away.
5
Wash
Sean Taylor
S
6'3"
220
Miami
Simply head and shoulders above every Safety in the draft. Considered by many to be the best defensive player in the draft. An elite playmaker with awesome speed and power. He can play either the Strong or Free Safety positions.
6
Detroit
DeAngelo Hall
CB
5'11"
200
Va Tech
One of the top cornerbacks in the entire draft. May be the fastest CB on the board. Also, can double as a return man.
7
Cleveland
Kellen Winslow
TE
6'5"
237
Miami
Simply the best Tight End the draft. He has the speed and hands of a Wide Receiver. Adds a deep threat to an offense. Reliable blocker. He plays with an aggressive streak similar to Shockey. Also has the pedigree that teams like.
8
Atlanta
Kenechi Udeze
DE
6'3"
280
USC
One of the best pure pass rushers on the board. His 16 ½ sacks will open the eyes of teams. Just a junior so there is room to mature. Always hustles and has a second gear burst of speed.
9
Jacksonville
Roy Williams
WR
6'4"
210
Texas
One of the best receivers in the draft. Nice size for WR, speedy, with good hands and YAC potential. Big, Strong and hard to jam at the line. Has everything a WR should have. The complete WR package.
